A thermal power station is a power station in which heat energy is converted to electric power. In most of the places in the world the turbine is steam-driven. Water is heated, turns into steam and spins a steam turbine which drives an electrical generator. After it passes through the turbine, the steam is condensed in a condenser and recycled to where it was heated; this is known as a Rankine cycle. The greatest variation in the design of thermal power stations is due to the different heat sources; fossil fuel dominates here, although nuclear heat energy and solar heat energy are also used. Some prefer to use the term energy center because such facilities convert forms of heat energy into electrical energy.Certain thermal power stations are also designed to produce heat energy for industrial purposes, or district heating, or desalination of water, in addition to generating electrical power.
Hydro Electric Power
Hydroelectricity is electricity produced from hydropower. In 2015, hydropower generated 16.6% of the world’s total electricity and 70% of all renewable electricity. The cost of hydroelectricity is relatively low, making it a competitive source of renewable electricity. The hydro station consumes no water, unlike coal or gas plants.
Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation, air and water heating/cooling, transportation, and rural (off-grid) energy services. Bangladesh has favorable conditions for Renewable Energy. From different calculations, it is anticipated that there are a number of suitable sites at Cox’s Bazar, Maheshkhali, Kutubdia and other places where tides are predominantly semidiurnal with a large variation. A generating unit consists of the sum and total of all equipment necessary for production of electricity. In a coal-fired power plant, a generating unit would normally consist of one or more boilers where coal is burned to create steam, plus one or more turbine generators which convert the steam’s heat energy into electricity. Generating units can usually operate independently, and most energy production facilities consist of several independent generating units which can be brought online or taken offline as demand fluctuates in the system.

BOP packages contain several equipment that are essential mandatory for the power plant to function and these are integrated into the main Power Island Equipment package which comprises the steam generator, steam turbine generator and the condenser (air or water cooled). All packages apart from Power Island Equipment package are considered as BOP. Our in-house knowledge covers balance-of-plant systems including boilers, HRSGs, condensers, fuel handling systems, water treatment plants, electrical & control systems, switch gear, and all fluid and gas processes, as well as the core rotating shaft equipment.
